Remedy Entertainment has recently provided exciting updates on its upcoming titles, including the Max Payne 1 & 2 Remake, Control 2, and Condor (codename). These updates offer a glimpse into the progress and future plans for these eagerly awaited games.
Remedy Entertainment Provides Updates on Upcoming Titles and Publishing Strategy
A slate of Remedy Entertainment's upcoming games such as Max Payne 1 & 2 Remake, Control 2, and Codename Condor has entered significant stages in their development cycles. The updates were recently shared in the company’s latest financial earnings report, which offered insights into the progress of each project and the overall direction of Remedy.
Control 2 Enters 'Production Readiness Stage'
Control 2, the highly anticipated sequel to the 2019 hit Control, has reached a crucial milestone in its development. According to Remedy, the game has "progressed to the production readiness stage," indicating that it is now playable. The development team is now focused on scaling up production, which involves extensive game testing, performance benchmarking, and ensuring the game meets high standards. Additionally, Remedy announced that Control Ultimate Edition, developed in collaboration with Apple, is set to launch on Apple silicon Macs later this year.
Codename Condor in Full Production
Remedy also provided updates on Codename Condor, the multiplayer spin-off set in the Control universe. The project is currently in full production, with the team diligently working on multiple maps and mission types. The studio has been conducting both internal and limited external playtesting to validate features and gather feedback. Condor marks Remedy’s first venture into live-service games and will be released with a "service-based fixed price."
Updates on Alan Wake 2 and Max Payne 1 & 2 Remake
In addition to these updates, the Alan Wake 2 expansion, Night Springs, has received impressive press reviews and fan feedback. Remedy revealed that Alan Wake 2 has already recouped most of its development and marketing expenses, indicating strong performance. The company also confirmed that a Physical Deluxe Edition of Alan Wake 2 will be released on October 22, with a Collector’s Edition following in December. Pre-orders for both editions are now available on the Alan Wake official website.
The Max Payne 1 & 2 remake, co-produced with Rockstar Games, has transitioned from the production readiness phase to full production. The team is currently working on a version of the game that is playable from start to finish, while focusing on key differentiating gameplay features that they hope will set it apart.
Control and Alan Wake 'Key Part' of Remedy's Future
Remedy highlighted their strategy for the future, particularly regarding the Control and Alan Wake franchises. Earlier this year, Remedy acquired the rights to the Control franchise from 505 Games, granting them complete control over the series’ future, development, publishing, and other related matters.
With full control of the IP and publishing rights for both series, Remedy is carefully considering self-publishing and other business models for Control and Alan Wake. The company plans to reveal more about their strategy by the end of the year. They are currently exploring options for self-publishing as well as potential partnerships with other publishers for their long-term business prospects.
"We have two established own franchises, Control and Alan Wake, which are linked through the Remedy Connected Universe. Growing and expanding these franchises will be a key part of our future. In addition, we work with a partner franchise Max Payne that was originally created by Remedy," the company stated.
As the year progresses, fans can look forward to more announcements regarding the company’s plans for the Control and Alan Wake franchises, as well as further developments on their upcoming games.
