New details about the highly anticipated *Assassin's Creed Shadows* have emerged online following the leak of an artbook titled "The Art of Assassin's Creed Shadows." The leak, which has spread rapidly across the internet, was initially spotted on Reddit's r/GamingLeaksAndRumours and reportedly originated from a site known for hosting hentai, adding a bizarre twist to the story. IGN has reached out to Ubisoft for a comment on this unusual situation. Although the gallery was quickly removed from the original site, it has since been archived and shared on various file-sharing platforms and galleries.
The artbook itself contains hundreds of pages filled with concept art, quotes, and development details about the next installment in the Assassin's Creed series. Among the leaks are concepts for historical figures, major cities, and an array of weapons. The images also hint at potential plot spoilers, though these cannot be confirmed until the game's release. The leak comes just ahead of *Assassin's Creed Shadows'* scheduled launch on March 20, 2025, following a delay that pushed it out of 2024 into February.
During a recent preview event for *Shadows*, IGN had the opportunity to speak with the game's director, Charles Benoit. Benoit explained that the delay was primarily to allow for further polishing of the game. "It was mostly about polishing," he stated, clarifying that no major systems were altered. However, the team did make some updates to the progression system to enhance engagement and balance, and notably, they focused on refining the parkour system to address challenges posed by the unique architecture of Feudal Japan.
"The Japanese architecture, the roofs [are] super complex," Benoit noted. "Probably the most complex thing that I ever worked with if we compared to Odyssey and Syndicate. We needed specific codes and specific animations to support something super fluid, changing the transition of the parkour to make it even more fluid. So that's one of the specific feedback that we heard that we wanted to address, and it really improved since the last few months."
