Bloodmoon Island, a mysterious isle shrouded in Deathfog, lies north of Reaper's Coast in Divinity: Original Sin 2. Its connection to the mainland—a bridge—is destroyed, seemingly blocking access. Exploring this island is crucial for advancing the main plot and unlocking side quests, but the game offers little guidance on how to reach it. Let's explore your options.
Spirit Vision Shows the Way
The remnants of the destroyed bridge to Bloodmoon Island are located northeast of Cloisterwood, near Jahan and Witch Alice. Using Spirit Vision reveals the broken segments, creating a challenging but surmountable obstacle. Several methods can help you cross:
Gloves of Teleportation: Acquired in Act 1, these gloves allow teleportation without needing the skill, enabling you to move each party member individually across the gaps.
Translocation Skills: Skills like Phoenix Dive, Cloak and Dagger, and Tactical Retreat offer teleportation, but their use depends on your party's abilities.
Teleporter Pyramids: These artifacts allow warping between them. Two pyramids are needed: one for a party member to cross using translocation, then the others can teleport to their location.
Fast Travel: Have a character with translocation cross, discover the Bloodmoon Island waypoint, then the rest of the party can fast travel there.
Take the Ferry Across the Deathfog
If Fane is in your party, an alternative exists. Undead Fane is immune to Deathfog. Northwest of Cloisterwood, an undead ferryman offers passage. This is a deceptive offer; only Fane survives the crossing. He can then discover the waypoint, allowing the rest of the party to fast travel.
Taking the Ferry Without Fane in the Party
If Fane isn't with you, you can still use this method with Teleporter Pyramids:
- Unchain your party, place a pyramid on a chosen companion.
- That companion takes the ferry, dying upon arrival.
- With the rest of the party chained, use the second pyramid to teleport to the dead companion.
- Resurrect the companion using a spell or scroll.
Without Fane, however, crossing the bridge remains the faster option.
Caution: Avoid attacking the Undead Ferryman unless you've saved your game. He retaliates with Deathfog, instantly killing those nearby. Defeating him yields a Soothing Cold skillbook, a belt, and 3,750 XP.
