Jason Kingsley, the CEO of Rebellion, has not ruled out the possibility of developing Evil Genius 3. However, he has made it clear that no official announcements will be made at this time. The franchise is particularly dear to Kingsley, and he is currently exploring ways to elevate it further.
Kingsley suggested that the theme of world domination, central to the Evil Genius series, could be expanded beyond the traditional base-building simulator genre into other strategic formats. Although specific projects remain in the conceptual stage, the development team is actively brainstorming fresh ideas for the franchise's future.
Released in 2021, Evil Genius 2 garnered "mostly positive" reviews from critics on Metacritic. However, the reception among regular players was less favorable. Despite enhancements in graphics and efforts to correct previous errors, many felt that the sequel did not live up to the standards set by the original game. Common criticisms included issues with the global map, the decline in the quality of minions and various structures, along with several other shortcomings.
