Sandbox Interactive's medieval fantasy MMORPG Albion Online is gearing up for its first major content drop of the year - the Rogue Frontier update arriving February 3. Although still weeks away, developers have revealed exciting details about what awaits in this outlaw-themed expansion.
What’s Changing in the Outlands?
The Rogue Frontier update introduces The Smugglers - a rebellious faction rejecting the Royal Continent's oppressive laws to establish their own operations across the untamed Outlands.
These renegades operate through hidden underground bases called Smuggler's Dens, serving as makeshift hubs offering banking services, gear repairs, and expedition planning. A sophisticated Smuggler's Network connects these dens with underground markets throughout the Outlands region.
Players can now join the Smugglers' constant struggle against Royal Guards through various faction activities. These include daring rescue missions to free captured allies and covert deliveries of forbidden goods concealed in Smuggler Crates.
Rewards for Outlaw Allegiance
Maggy Slade, the faction's shadowy quartermaster stationed in dens, offers exclusive rewards for proving your loyalty. The update features a complete Smuggler's Vanity Set, a unique cape that reduces potion cooldowns, plus special rings and avatar customizations.
A new Kill Trophies system drops unique tokens when eliminating well-equipped opponents - with better gear increasing drop chances.
The expansion also debuts three flashy new weapons:
- Rotcaller Staff summons a mist-spewing entity that repels enemies
- Skystrider Bow enables aerial attacks while levitating
- Forcepulse Bracers unleash shockwaves during dashes
