Indie game developer Sander Frenken has revealed that his upcoming real-time strategy (RTS) game, Battledom, is currently undergoing alpha testing. This RTS-lite title serves as a spiritual successor to Frenken's 2020 hit, Herodom. Developed over approximately two years by the part-time developer, Battledom closely resembles Frenken's initial vision for Herodom.
Battledom introduces dynamic RTS combat mechanics, granting players freedom to maneuver units across the battlefield. Players directly target enemies and manually operate siege weapons for devastating attacks. Strategic formations enhance the gameplay experience.
Players will amass coins to recruit units, initially equipped with basic weapons and no armor. Strategic customization is key; players can equip units with various weapons and armor pieces, each impacting stats such as range, accuracy, defense, and attack power.
Resource management is crucial. Instead of finding equipment through exploration, players must craft items within their village. Gathering resources like wood, leather, and coal is essential for crafting at the blacksmith, magician, or other village crafters.
Frenken's previous success with Herodom, boasting a 4.6 App Store rating, showcases his talent. Herodom features over 55 collectible heroes, 150+ units and siege weapons, and historically-inspired battles. Players unlock new hairstyles, bodies, crops, and animals for their in-game farm.
iOS users can participate in the Battledom alpha test via TestFlight. For updates and news, follow Sander Frenken on X or Reddit, or explore his other games on the App Store.
