Elden Ring Nightreign: No Poison Swamps, Two-Player Mode Possible
From Software's upcoming cooperative title, Elden Ring Nightreign, will notably omit the poisonous swamps that are a hallmark of the developer's past games. This was confirmed by product manager Yasuhiro Kitao in recent press interviews.
While a swamp-like area was featured in the trailer, Kitao clarified it's a distinct location. The absence of traditional poisonous swamps is attributed to the lack of involvement from Hidetaka Miyazaki, From Software's president, a known enthusiast of swamp environments in games like Elden Ring and the Dark Souls series. Miyazaki did not participate in Nightreign's development.

Interestingly, a two-player mode, currently absent from the announced one-player and three-player options, is under consideration. Initial exclusion was due to content balancing difficulties. From Software is actively evaluating the feasibility of adding this mode, but no final decision has been reached.
Elden Ring Nightreign is scheduled for release on May 30, 2025, for PC and current and next-generation consoles.
