The highly-anticipated, fashion-centered open-world game, Infinity Nikki, is set to launch on December 4th (EST/PST). A 25-minute documentary celebrates the extensive effort and passion poured into the game through interviews with core team members.
Infinity Nikki's journey began in December 2019 when the Nikki series’ producer approached Chief Technology Officer Fei Ge with the vision of creating an open-world game centered around Nikki's adventures. The project was initially shrouded in secrecy, with the team working from a separate office to maintain confidentiality. "We gradually began recruiting and assembling our initial team, working on ideas, laying the foundation, and building the infrastructure. This continued for over a year," Fei Ge explained.
Game designer Sha Dingyu highlighted the unprecedented challenge of merging the Nikki IP's dress-up mechanics with an open-world framework. "It was a challenging process, creating a framework from scratch step by step after years of research," Dingyu said.
Despite these challenges, the team's commitment to turning their vision into reality was unwavering. The Nikki franchise, which started with NikkuUp2U in 2012, is now expanding with Infinity Nikki as its fifth installment and its first venture into PC and console platforms alongside mobile. Fei Ge noted the team's dedication to a technological and product upgrade, driven by a desire for progress and the evolution of the Nikki IP. This dedication was evident when the producer crafted a detailed clay model of the Grand Millewish Tree, symbolizing the team's passion for the project.
The documentary also offers glimpses of the enchanting world of Miraland, where players will explore areas around the mystical Grand Millewish Tree, home to the delightful Faewish Sprites. The vibrant life of Miraland's residents, including children playing magical hopscotch, adds to the immersive experience. Game designer Xiao Li emphasized that the NPCs have their own routines, enhancing the liveliness and realism of the world, even during Nikki's missions.

The game's Lead Sub Director, Kentaro "Tomiken" Tominaga, previously contributed to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, while concept artist Andrzej Dybowski, known for his work on The Witcher 3, adds his creative touch to the project.
