Assassin’s Creed Remakes Confirmed by Ubisoft CEO -------------------------------------------------Various Types of AC Games to Come Out Regularly, Seemingly Yearly
During the interview, Guillemot expressed enthusiasm about revisiting and modernizing some of the earlier Assassin's Creed games. He mentioned, "Firstly, players can be excited about some remakes, which will allow us to revisit some of the games we've created in the past and modernize them; there are worlds in some of our older Assassin's Creed games that are still extremely rich." This statement suggests that fans might soon enjoy refreshed versions of their favorite classics.
Guillemot also emphasized the diversity of upcoming projects, stating, "There will be plenty of experience variety. The goal is to have Assassin’s Creed games come out more regularly, but not for it to be the same experience every year." This approach aims to keep the franchise fresh and engaging for its audience.
Looking ahead, Ubisoft is set to release several new titles that promise unique experiences within the Assassin's Creed universe. Assassin’s Creed Hexe, set in 16th-century Europe, is slated for a 2026 launch. Meanwhile, Assassin's Creed Jade, a mobile game, is expected to hit the market in 2025. Additionally, Assassin’s Creed Shadows, which takes players to feudal Japan, is scheduled for release on November 15, 2024.
Ubisoft's commitment to remastering its classic titles is evident with past releases like Assassin’s Creed: The Ezio Collection in 2016 and Assassin’s Creed Rogue Remastered in 2018. Rumors have also circulated about a potential remake of the fan-favorite Assassin’s Creed Black Flag, although Ubisoft has yet to officially confirm this project.
Ubisoft Pushes for Generative AI
In addition to discussing remakes and new titles, Guillemot highlighted the role of evolving technology in enhancing game development. He pointed out the significant advancements in Assassin’s Creed Shadows, particularly its dynamic weather system that influences gameplay and the game's visual enhancements. Guillemot also expressed his strong belief in the potential of generative AI to enrich game worlds.
"Technology is evolving at such a pace that there are limitless possibilities for evolution," Guillemot remarked. "In Assassin's Creed Shadows, for example, we have a weather system that will affect its gameplay; ponds that were once swimmable might freeze, for instance."
"Visually, we're also seeing a big step forward for the series. I have also been very vocal about the potential I see in generative AI and how it can enrich NPCs to be more intelligent, more interactive," he added. "This could potentially extend to animals in the world, to the world itself. There is still so much we can do to enrich these open worlds to be even more dynamic."
