inZOI's Upcoming Karma System and Ghostly Encounters
inZOI game director, Hyungjun Kim, recently revealed intriguing details about a planned Karma system, introducing a paranormal element to the game's realistic setting. This system will determine the fate of deceased Zois, transforming them into ghosts based on their accumulated Karma points.
Zois with sufficient Karma points upon death proceed to the afterlife. However, those with insufficient Karma remain as ghosts, tasked with accumulating enough points to move on. The specific actions required to restore Karma points remain undisclosed.
Kim emphasized a balanced approach to ghost interactions, ensuring they enhance, not overshadow, the core gameplay. In the Early Access version, interactions with ghost Zois will be limited to specific times and conditions, primarily through unique conversations.
Kim expressed a desire to explore more fantasy elements within inZOI's predominantly realistic framework, suggesting that this paranormal aspect adds a layer of engaging gameplay.
A Glimpse into Karma Interactions
Krafton Inc.'s collaboration with content creators, including MadMorph, offered a brief preview of the Karma system. MadMorph's video showcased "Karma Interactions," an in-game option presenting various actions impacting a Zoi's Karma score. Examples shown included mischievous acts (like secretly farting on another Zoi) and positive actions (like disposing of trash or liking a friend's post).
While the Early Access version focuses on the living Zois, the Karma system's full impact will be realized in future updates.
inZOI's Early Access release on Steam is scheduled for March 28, 2025, offering players a chance to experience this unique blend of realism and paranormal gameplay.
