REPO Development Updates
Overcharge System Overhaul
REPO recently launched an open beta for its next major update, gathering valuable player input. Among the features that caught developer Semiwork's attention was the Overcharge mechanic.
This ability lets players counter enemies by grabbing and hurling them against solid surfaces or away from allies. However, it comes with a risk—an overcharge meter fills up with use, and once full, it triggers a player-controlled explosion.

Originally available from the beginning, Overcharge will now unlock once players reach level 10. The team also plans to roll out additional challenge mechanics every 10 levels (at 20, 30, and so on), making Overcharge the first in this tiered difficulty system.
These mechanics will also connect to the game's narrative. As Semiwork explained, "This system will tie into the lore—it's not just a gameplay gimmick. There's a story behind it, and we'll share more details down the line."
Developers Played in Open Beta Matches

During the recent open beta, Semiwork developers joined public matchmaking unnoticed, chatting with players about potential improvements. Pontus Sundström from Semiwork shared his excitement at seeing players enjoy the new content.
"I actually played alongside many of you—incognito, through random matchmaking," Sundström said. "I’ve been asking questions and learning what you find most enjoyable."
Semiwork aims to keep refining REPO using community feedback gathered during the beta. Players can anticipate further updates, with the developers promising more news soon. For the latest on R.E.P.O., check out our article below!
