MachineGames, the studio behind Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, has confirmed a crucial detail: players won't be able to harm any dogs in the upcoming game. This decision reflects a commitment to a more family-friendly experience, a departure from the developer's previous, more violent titles. Let's explore this and other game details.
No Canine Casualties in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle
A Dog Lover's Adventure
While many games feature violence against animals, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle takes a different stance. Creative Director Jens Andersson of MachineGames told IGN, "Indiana Jones is a dog person." This sentiment guides the game's design, ensuring that despite the intense action sequences involving human enemies, encounters with dogs remain non-lethal. Indy will scare off dogs, not harm them.
Andersson emphasized the family-friendly nature of the Indiana Jones IP, stating, "It's a family-friendly IP in many ways... We have dogs as enemies, but you don’t really hurt the dogs. You scare them away."
Set in 1937, between Raiders of the Lost Ark and The Last Crusade, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle begins with Indy pursuing stolen artifacts from Marshall College. His journey spans diverse locations, from the Vatican and Egyptian pyramids to the underwater temples of Sukhothai.
Indy's trusty whip serves both as a traversal tool and a weapon against human foes, but according to the developers, it will remain unused against our four-legged friends.
