Palworld Boss Says Switch Port Improbable Due to Technical Reasons ------------------------------------------------------------------Devs Pocketpair Has Nothing Concrete to Announce Yet
In a recent interview with Game File, Pocketpair CEO Takuro Mizobe discussed the challenges of porting Palworld to the Nintendo Switch and provided insights into future developments. While a Switch version is not completely off the table, Mizobe highlighted the technical hurdles involved. The conversation around "new platforms" for Palworld continues, but as Mizobe explained, Pocketpair currently has no concrete announcements.
Despite Palworld's demanding PC specifications posing a challenge for a Switch port, Mizobe remains hopeful about expanding the game's accessibility. Earlier this month, he noted, "Palworld’s specs on PC are higher than the Switch’s specs. So maybe it’s hard to port to Switch just for technical reasons."
Regarding potential releases on other platforms like PlayStation, Nintendo, or mobile devices, Mizobe has not provided specific details. In an earlier interview with Bloomberg, he confirmed that Pocketpair is exploring opportunities to bring the game to additional platforms. Additionally, Mizobe mentioned that the company is open to partnership or acquisition offers, though no buyout discussions have taken place with Microsoft.
Wants Palworld to Have More 'Ark' or 'Rust' Elements
Mizobe also shared his vision for enhancing Palworld's multiplayer features. The upcoming arena mode, described as "kind of an experiment," is a stepping stone toward more extensive multiplayer experiences. "My dream is to achieve a true PvP mode in Palworld," Mizobe stated. "I want more of the Ark or Rust style."
Games like Ark and Rust are renowned for their survival elements, featuring challenging environments, intricate resource management, and deep player interactions, including the formation of alliances and tribes. Both games blend PvE and PvP elements, with Ark introducing players to a world filled with dinosaurs and natural disasters, and Rust challenging players with wildlife and radiation zones.
Palworld, developed by Pocketpair, has captured the gaming community's imagination with its unique blend of creature collection and survival shooting. Players can capture creatures known as Pals, utilize them for base-building and various tasks, and engage in survival challenges.
Since its release, Palworld has achieved remarkable success, selling 15 million copies on PC within its first month and attracting 10 million players on Xbox through the Game Pass subscription service. The game is gearing up for a significant update with the free Sakurajima update, set to launch on Thursday. This update will introduce a new island, the eagerly awaited PvP arena, and more exciting features.
